Bay Area Rural Transit (BART) Bus System
Serving the Chequamegon Bay Area for over 30 years
Riding the BART in Chequamegon Bay communities is convenient and safe. More than 80% of all residents live within walking distance of our routes. Riding the bus is a good travel choice because it helps our environment by reducing fuel emissions, traffic congestion, and parking issues. The route buses offer service around the Bay every 2 hours, the city bus offers service around Ashland every hour and the community buses in Washburn and Red Cliff offer service as soon as possible. There is also a bus traveling from Ashland to Mellen on Mondays and Thursdays each week.
Our buses provide a safe, clean, and reliable alternative means of transportation.
We also work directly with the following transportation services in the area: Ashland County Aging Unit, Bad River Transit, Miskwaabekong Red Cliff Transit, and the Lauri Jean Zach Center (LJZC provides rides in the Glidden/Park Falls/Mellen area).

UpdatesBART is now located at
2216 6th Street East, Ashland. A huge "Thank you" to all who visited us at our new building, donated food and helped to make our Grand Opening and Open House so successful. As of MAY 23, BART's extended evening hours are no longer available. Our last runs for the evening will finish in the six o'clock hour. Bike Racks are now installed on Route 1 & Route 2 buses for the summer. Riders must place their bikes on the racks and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Bay Area Rural Transit has partnered with Red Cliff's Miskwaabekong Transit to provide dispatch services. The first few months have been very successful with the Red Cliff community embracing this new service. If you would like help with a schedule,
call the BART office at (715) 682-9664, for assistance. |
