NEW Transit Center Facility
Bay Area Rural Transit received a grant in 2010 to design and construct a new building for its operations. The new facility will not only allow BART to house and maintain all its vehicles and staff in one place but provide a main entrance and waiting lobby for visitors. The current facility can house only two of the transit buses at a time, and has approximately 120 sq. ft. office, and a single restroom for employee use. The new facility will be a much needed improvement for Bay Area Rural Transit which has had a 20% increase in ridership over the past year.
The BART Transit Center will be located on the southeast corner of the intersection of 6th Street East and 22nd Avenue East in the City of Ashland.
